Get to know us – John Hampton, Customer Advocate

How long have you been in this industry and how did you get into it?

I have been working in IT for five years.  I always had an interest in technology, and figured it would be an exciting way to make a living.

Please explain what you do at Datotel.

I am responsible for all IT needs for our client, Paric Corporation.  This ranges from desktop and server maintenance, to audio visual needs and the phone system.

What is your greatest achievement (personal or professional)?

My greatest personal achievement would have to be my wonderful wife and three children.

What person (alive or dead, industry or non-industry) would you most like to work with?

Albert Einstein.

What has been the most memorable moment in your career?

Being chosen to be a part of the team that accepted the 2007 Missouri Fast Track Award for Datotel.

What’s the best book you’ve read recently and why?

The best book I have read recently was Three Nights in August because of the detailed insight it provided into the St. Louis Cardinals; and I think I still have a chance to play.

Who is your favorite band/singer? This changes every couple of months as I like to mix up my music listening habits.  All time favorite bands are Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins.

Tell us something that your colleagues and/or customers would be surprised to learn about you.

I am fascinated by Space.  It is amazing to me to think about the endless possibilities out there and how truly small we are.

What location would you most like to visit next on a holiday and why? Egypt, to see all of the history and old cultural places.

How are you living out Datotel’s core values?

I live our core values by working my hardest to accomplish goals.  As long as I am working hard, passion, integrity, fun, teamwork, superior business value and improving the community will follow.  Anything worth doing is worth doing right.
